How Many Shooters Can Us Idiots Possibly Buy?

Yeah, that's right. Idiots. At least that's what the industry seems to think of us if we look at what most gaming companies dredged up for you this past E3. Seriously, do game publishers really think the only thing that can qualify a game as "hardcore" is if there are guns in it (I suppose boobies probably help too)? I love shooting someone's kneecaps out before crushing their skull with the heel of my jackboot as much as the next militant white supremacist, but even I have to say that enough is enough. Here's a breakdown of all the shooters we saw at E3 this year (and their respective selling points).

Again, I really have nothing against shooters. I'm looking forward to several of the above games. I just wonder how the market can possibly support a glut of them this big. That's 34 shooters right there, and I am sure there are a few stragglers that we overlooked. I listed the distinctive selling points of each game because I wonder how consumers are going to choose between all these games come holiday season. Are moral choices or RPG elements enough to sell someone on one game over another or is everyone going to flock to Call of Duty, Halo, and Gears of War like they always do?

Do videogame publishers really think that this is all that gamers want? Are they right? Are shooters really the safe bet that publishers seem to think they are? Is there a point when gamers will get tired of pointing and clicking? Let us know in the comments below
