Not your typical game ad

One of my friends came back from Japan recently and gave me a December issue of Famitsu, complete with capacitive gloves for touch screens. Flipping through the pages, I found this offbeat ad with Q-games (the PixelJunk guys) founder Dylan Cuthbert that I wouldn't expect to see but maybe that makes this ad successful. The ad below looks more suited to a convenience store.

Loosely translated, the top says something along the lines of "I journeyed to Japan to create a game with originality, unintentionally I arrived in Kyoto."

Cuthbert was originally from Britain but made a 3D demo on Game Boy that had him end up at Nintendo to work on Star Fox. Due to his contract, he couldn't stay at Nintendo but after working for Sony in California, he eventually came back to Kyoto to start-up Q-games.
